Police in Troy arrested a man from Cohoes after an investigation into drug activity. Police were notified at around two in the afternoon yesterday about drug activity in a parking lot in the area of O’Neil Apartments that is located on Sixth Avenue. After the Troy Special Operations Section Detectives set up surveillance they were able to witness suspicious activity. With the help from the Rensselaer County Department of Probation and the police department’s newest member, K-9 Obie, they were able to find crack cocaine in the vehicle. They also took 41-year-old Michael Bates into custody on charges that include criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second and third-degrees. He was arraigned and sent to jail without bail pending further court action.
